Picon Amer
Picon Amer was invented by cavalryman, Gaetan Picon, during his station in Algeria in 1837. An apprentice distiller in France, Picon blended two distillates of orange zest, gentian and quinine steeped in neutral alcohol as a treatment for malaria. The flavor profile is dry, citric and bitter. An aperitif drank with lemon syrup, soda and an orange peel. Try it in a Liberal or Brooklyn Cocktail.
