Blair Athol, one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, was founded in 1798. It is situated in the town of Pitlochry, Perthshire, at the foothills of the Grampian mountains. Its access to water from the Allt Dour which flows through its grounds, gives rise to the mellow quality and smooth finish of their whiskies. This 17 yr old expression was bottled at 48.5% ABV.
Nose: Initial hints of floral and grassy notes emerges into that of apricots and fresh mint.
Palate: Crumbly oat cakes, brown sugar, cinnamon gum and honey.
Finish: Rounds off with a soft vanilla and honey finish.
